Bavarian SC claimed the Wisconsin Amateur Cup in 2015 by default, as the only entry in the annual tournament. This year, the Glendale-based club has some competition for the title.
The Bavarians will play host to Milwaukee's Simbas SC in a semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Heartland Value Fund Stadium. United Serbians and North Shore United will meet in the other semifinal at 4 p.m. at Serb Hall (St. Sava) in Milwaukee.
The winners will face off next Saturday for the state title and a berth in the USASA Region II Amateur Cup, which is set for June 10 to 12 in Saginaw, Mich.
The Bavarians (6-1-1) are tied with Croatian Eagles atop the Wisconsin Soccer Leagues Major Division with 19 points (though the Croatians have a game in hand), while the Simbas are 12th in the 20-team WSL First Division with a 4-3-3 record.
United Serbians (4-4-0) sit fourth out of the eight Major sides, just ahead of North Shore United (3-4-0) – the Serbians beat NSU 2-1 when the teams met last fall.
