Junior midfielder Erin Bolskar converted a penalty kick with 4 seconds left as Muskego knocked off Waukesha Catholic Memorial 2-1 in a Classic 8 Conference girls soccer match Tuesday night at Waukesha South High School.

The loss snapped a 22-game unbeaten streak for the Crusaders, who had gone 20-0-2 since a 2-0 loss to Kettle Moraine on May 20, 2014.

Muskego junior Jennifer Fischer and Catholic Memorial junior Emily Cervantes traded goals in a 3-minute span in the first half, and the match remained tied until the final seconds – despite the Crusaders (10-1-1), ranked first in the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association Division 3 state poll, finishing with 10 players after junior Jo Rolli was sent off for picking up a second yellow card.

The decisive penalty was called on a corner kick with approximately 10 seconds left and Bolskar dispatched her shot from the spot to the upper left corner, Muskego coach Eric Hess wrote in an email.

Junior goalkeeper Madelyn Runyan made 11 saves in the fifth consecutive win for Muskego (6-1-1), which received honorable mention in this week's Division 1 state poll.

  • Cervantes' goal Tuesday night was the 135th of her career, one behind former Hustisford standout Brandi Peltier (2008 to '11) for third place in state history, according to the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association record book. Cervantes, who has verbally committed to Tennessee for 2016, became the fifth girl in state history to surpass 300 career points on Saturday – with 302 points, she is six behind Peltier for fourth place all-time. • Junior Samantha Duhr had two goals and an assist as Waunakee scored the final four goals to beat host DeForest 4-1 in a Northern Badger Conference opener last Thursday, extending its league winning streak to 59 games. Waunakee is 70-1-0 all-time in Northern Badger play, with the lone loss 1-0 to Reedsburg on May 20, 2003.
  • Milwaukee DSHA is seventh in this week's Top Drawer Soccer Great Lakes Region rankings and moved back atop the website's Wisconsin rankings. Waukesha West moved up one spot to second, while Catholic Memorial fell from first to third.
  • Six state teams are headed to Burlington, Iowa, for the ninth annual adidas Tournament of Champions this weekend. DSHA starts play in the Heartland Lodge Bracket at 5 p.m. Thursday against Jefferson City Helias Catholic (Mo.), while the other Wisconsin sides open Friday. Middleton and Pewaukee are in the adidas Bracket, Waunakee and Whitefish Bay are in the Greater Burlington Bracket and Sussex Hamilton is in the Iowa Economic Development Bracket at the 42-team tournament, which includes teams from Iowa, Illinois, Missouri and Kansas.
