Wauwatosa's Santi Davila and the U.S. Club Soccer id2 national selection team had a perfect run through group play at the Mediterranean International Cup in Spain.

The FC Wisconsin goalkeeper started two matches and came off the bench in the other as the id2 side outscored its three opponents by a combined 14-0 scoreline in winning Group G in Category C at the 268-team youth tournament.

Davila made a big save in the team's 3-0 victory over Club Deportivo Aliron Futbol Base de Tegueste from the Canary Islands in an opener Wednesday. He then made two starts Thursday as the id2 team first blanked Chinese-Spanish club Shangwen-Nama 7-0 and then Israeli side Hapoel Ramat Gan 4-0 later in the day.

The id2 team will play Spanish club UD Perfeccionamiento Global on Friday morning to open the knockout round. The Round of 16 matches are Friday night, followed by the quarterfinals and semifinals Saturday and the final Sunday. Among the other 32 teams in the knockout round are FC Barcelona, Manchester City, Atlético Madrid, Inter Milan, FC Porto, Celta de Vigo, RCD Espanyol, the Virginia Development Academy and Florida's Weston FC.

• Two prominent Milwaukee-area clubs, the Brookfield Soccer Association and Elm Grove SC, announced that they will merge into one new club, Elmbrook United, which will start play in the 2017-18 season. Families in Brookfield and Elm Grove are accustomed to working together, as the communities are part of the Elmbrook School District and several other youth sports groups play under the combined Elmbrook name. The clubs' news release announcing the merger indicated that Joe Luedke, currently the EGSC coaching director, and his BSA counterpart, Art Kramer, will both hold "prominent leadership positions" with Elmbrook United. The new club's color scheme and logo will be announced in the near future.
• The Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association recently honored its 2016 award winners in 10 categories. • Chris Lacey was elected the new WYSA president at the organization's annual general meeting last month in Oshkosh. Lacey, who is the vice president of operations for Sheboygan-based Lakeshore United, succeeds Terry Donini.
• All three state boys teams that played in the 2016-17 U.S. Youth Soccer National League finished fifth in their respective divisions. The Elm Grove SC 18-and-under team (2-2-3) went unbeaten March 10 to 12 as league play concluded in Las Vegas, with Dominic Briggs (Oconomowoc) scoring in each match to close the competition with four goals. Also in 18U action, David Reyes (Milwaukee Audobon) had two goals to help the Milwaukee Bavarians (3-3-1) win two of three on the weekend and also finished with four goals during National League play. Meanwhile, the SC Waukesha Blue 15U side earned one point over its final three matches to finish 3-3-1.
