McKenna Meuer (Madison Memorial/UW) is set to become the latest member of her club team to play professional soccer.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who wrapped up her college career with the Badgers in fall 2015, will join Swedish third-division side Rävåsens IK Karlskoga early next month, the club recently announced. (Read club news release)

Meuer follows Mary Luba (Shorewood/Marquette) and Cara Walls (Wauwatosa East/UW) as former members of the 2011 FC Milwaukee team in pro soccer.

Luba and Walls play for the Chicago Red Stars, while goalkeeper Monica Gonyo (Waukesha Catholic Memorial) and defender Valerie Gonyo (Waukesha Catholic Memorial) spent time on trial with the National Women's Soccer League team.

Meuer scored 13 goals and added five assists in 77 appearances (76 starts) in her UW career, including career highs of six goals and five assists as a senior – she also wore the captain's armband for the Badgers that season.

Rävåsens IK Karlskoga finished 13-4-5 and took third in the Division 1 Norra Götaland last season. They open the season April 14 at home against QBIK, which was relegated from the second-tier Elitettan last year.
