Milwaukee Wave teammates Ian Bennett and Daniel Chamale helped Canada to a 10th-place finish at the CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship, which wrapped up Sunday in Nassau, Bahamas.

After finishing third with a 1-2 record in Group B, Canada dropped a pair of tight decisions to Costa Rica in the placement phase of the tournament, falling 3-2 on penalties following a 2-2 draw Friday and then again 6-5 after extra time in the ninth-place match Sunday.

Bennett scored in Friday's game and finished the event with three goals for Canada, which also beat Antigua and Barbuda 6-2 on Saturday. He also ended up on the awards podium following Sunday's games – Canada was honored with the Fair Play Award for the tournament, and as team captain, Bennett accepted the award.

Chamale, a defender who also scored during the tournament, and Bennett will return to the Wave for their Major Arena Soccer League regular-season finale Sunday against the Chicago Mustangs at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena and the MASL playoffs.

  • Former Wave forward Nick Perera scored as the U.S. doubled up host Bahamas 4-2 in the fifth-place match. Perera finished with four goals at the tournament for the Americans, who lost to eventual champion Panama 6-4 in Friday's quarterfinals.
