The Milwaukee Wave are one of the hottest teams in the Major Arena Soccer League, having extended their winning streak to six games with a 14-3 rout of the visiting Cedar Rapids Rampage on Sunday afternoon at U.S. Cellular Arena.

Ian Bennett continued his tremendous season for the Wave, scoring six goals – his fourth game this season with five goals or more – while Max Ferdinand added six assists and goalkeeper Josh Lemos stopped 18 of 21 shots as Milwaukee (10-5) pulled even with the Rampage and moved within a game of the Central Division-leading Kansas City Comets (11-4) with five games left in the regular season.

The 31-year-old Bennett leads the MASL with 42 goals and is second with 51 points, and ranks fourth in team history with 204 goals in his 165 regular-season games – however, his average of 1.24 goals per game is believed to top the Wave record books.

Ferdinand, meanwhile, was named the MASL Player of the Month after he scored six goals and added 11 assists as Milwaukee won all five of its matches in January, and he leads the league with 27 assists.

The Wave, who rattled off 11 consecutive goals against the Rampage to turn a 2-2 game into a lopsided affair in front of a crowd of 3,106, head East this weekend for matches at the Syracuse Silver Knights (6-7) on Friday and the Baltimore Blast (9-5) on Saturday.

Milwaukee then closes the regular season with three home matches against division rivals, including Feb. 12 against the Rampage (10-5) and Feb. 18 against the Comets – Kansas City also has won six in a row, matching the Wave for the longest active winning streak in the MASL.
