Wauwatosa's Aryssa Mahrt is headed to Florida for Thanksgiving.

The striker, who plays club soccer for FC Wisconsin Eclipse, is one of 24 players named to the U.S. Under-14 girls national team for the U.S. Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program Girls Thanksgiving Interregional in Boca Raton, Fla.

The Under-14 national team will play matches against each of the four U.S. Youth Soccer regional Under-17 ODP teams between Nov. 20 to 25.
Mahrt, who plays for the FC Wisconsin Under-16 team, has been part of three Under-14 national team camps this year under coach April Kater.

Two state players will be part of the Region II Under-17 side that will face the Under-14 national team on Nov. 23: Pleasant Prairie's Haley Johnson (Kenosha Tremper/SC Waukesha) and Sheboygan Falls' Bonnie Lacey (Sheboygan North/Lakeshore United).

Johnson, a forward, has verbally committed to play for UW-Milwaukee starting in 2018, while defender-midfielder Lacey has committed to Marquette.

  • Whitefish Bay's Thomas Deslongchamps, a goalkeeper who plays for Illinois club FC United in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy, trained with the U.S. Under-17 national team Oct. 25 to 30 in Florida. Deslongchamps played for Bavarian SC through the 2015-16 season and is now with the FC United Under-15/16 team.
  • University of Wisconsin midfielder Victoria Pickett, last fall's Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Year, and Canada open play at the FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup in Papua New Guinea on Sunday against Spain. Pickett hasn't played with the Badgers this season as she prepared for the tournament. Canada, which currently is training in Australia, rounds out Group A play against Nigeria next Wednesday and against Japan on Nov. 20.
