Andrew Stadler (Wauwatosa West) got back on the scoreboard, and sparked his team to a victory on Saturday in Sweden's top-tier Allsvenskan.

Stadler's left-footed strike from the top of the box in the 52nd minute opened the scoring, and host Östersunds FK went on to rout GIF Sundsvall 4-0. (Watch highlights below)

It was the third goal of the season and first since May 18 for the 28-year-old Stadler. Östersunds (6-6-5), playing in the Allsvenskan for the first time in its 19-year history is eighth in the 16-team league with 13 matches remaining.

• Carl Schneider (Madison La Follette/UW) made his professional debut last Saturday, playing all 90 minutes as IFK Åmål topped Vallens IF 3-1 in a Swedish sixth-division match. • Andrija Novakovich (Muskego) and the Reading Under-23 team open the 2016-17 season in the newly renamed Premier League 2 on Friday night in England against Arsenal. The Royals are one of 12 teams playing in the top division of the league, which previously was known as the Under-21 Premier League. Reading also will participate in the English Football League Trophy, with group matches against League 1's Bristol Rovers and League 2 sides Portsmouth and Yeovil Town, and will face Everton, Spain's Athletic Bilbao and Germany's Hertha Berlin in the Premier League International Cup.
