Before Joe Raasch starts his junior year at Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School this fall, he's taking a trip to Colombia.

Raasch was named to the U.S. Youth Futsal Under-16 boys national team, which will play three friendlies against Colombian sides in Medellin over the next week. Most U.S. players arrived in the country's second-largest city on Monday.

Players were selected for the six national teams – Under-14, Under-16 and Under-18 for boys and Under-16, Under-14 and Under-13 girls – based on their performances at the National I.D. Camp earlier this month in New Century and Overland Park, Kan.

Raasch, who lives in Germantown and plays club soccer for North Shore United, earned first-team, All-East Central Conference honors for Kettle Moraine Lutheran as a sophomore last fall.
