Bavarian SC is taking a weekend off from its Premier League of America and Wisconsin Soccer Leagues schedules to play in the U.S. Adult Soccer Association Region II Amateur Cup in Saginaw, Mich.

The Bavarians earned a spot in the field by beating North Shore United 5-1 in the Wisconsin Amateur Cup final May 14 and will compete in the National Division, in which the Region II champion will advance to the USASA national semifinals. The national tournament will be hosted by a regional champion from Aug. 5 to 7.

This weekend's tournament figures to be grueling, as the six teams will play a five-game, round-robin competition to determine the Region II champion. And the Bavarians were dealt a challenging draw, with their first two matches against two of the likely favorites: perennial Illinois powerhouse RWB Adria at 6 p.m. Friday and defending champion Quinto Elemento from Kansas at 8:45 a.m. Saturday.

However, the Bavarians should be among the favorites, too. The Glendale side has enjoyed an incredible spring – their PLA and WSL teams (Majors and Reserves) all lead their respective standings and are a combined 17-1-2 in 2016.

Michigan's FC Carpathia, which plays in the PLA East Division along with Adria, and pair of teams from the National Premier Soccer League, FC Indiana and Michigan's Ann Arbor FC, round out the field.
