Sarah Hagen (Appleton North/UW-Milwaukee) opened her account with the Orlando Pride, heading in the 12-minute opener in the expansion team's 2-0 victory over the visiting Seattle Reign in a National Women's Soccer League match Sunday afternoon. (Watch highlights below)

U.S. women's national team star Alex Morgan chased down a ball on the left flank, got to it before it rolled over the endline and served in a cross that Hagen nodded past national team goalkeeper Hope Solo for her first goal with Orlando.

"(Morgan) put it on a platter for me. All I had to do was tap it in," the 26-year-old Hagen told reporters about her ninth goal in 29 appearances (21 starts) in NWSL since joining the league from German club Bayern Munich in summer 2014.

The goal came two days after Hagen's 11th anniversary of being declared cancer-free, a date she celebrates every year.

"It's fantastic for Sarah to actually get that goal," said Pride coach Tom Sermanni, who traded with FC Kansas City to acquire Hagen in one of the team's first moves. "She had a tough season last year. She didn't start (the first two matches this year), but she has been the absolute perfect professional, how she approaches training, her sense of humor. Maybe (dealing with) cancer has given that to her."

  • Tony Walls (Wauwatosa East/UW-Green Bay) scored his first goal of the season, converting a penalty kick after a handball in the box in the 75th minute to snap a tie and lead the defending USL champion Rochester Rhinos (4-1-1) to a 3-2 victory over the visiting Charleston Battery on Friday. "We had to scratch and claw, and it was a game that came down to who wanted it more," Walls told the USL website. "We got fortunate with the penalty and put it away. The difference between the teams in our league isn't very much, so you've got to bring it every night." On Twitter: @TWalls20
  • Genevieve Richard (UW) and Nojima Stella Kanagawa Sagamihara still haven't allowed any goals this season, but their perfect start to the Nadeshiko League Division 2 campaign ended with a 0-0 draw against host Chifure AS Elfen Saitama on Saturday in Japan. Richard has posted five clean sheets in as many appearances for league-leading Nojima Stella (7-0-1), which has outscored opponents 16-0.
