The amateur spring soccer season in Wisconsin kicked off on Sunday, as the Madison Soccer Association resumed its 2015-16 season with six matches.

The league added two teams to the Division 1 competition, Paradigm and Chivas, taking its top flight up to six teams for the spring. Both sides, which have been regulars in the MSA in recent years, were given six points in the standings.

The Madison Fire had the two top sides in Division 1 through the fall season, with its Red team (6-1-1) leading the division and its Black team (5-1-1) in second place just ahead of Madison United (5-2-0). Epic FC (4-2-2) topped the seven-team Division 2 heading into the spring season.

All MSA matches this spring are scheduled to be played on the turf at Goodman Pitch at Verona's Reddan Soccer Park. The regular season concludes June 5, with the top four finishers in each division qualifying for the playoffs. Semifinal matches are set for June 10, with the finals on June 17.

• The WSL is accepting applications for its Men's Under-23 League and the Women's Premier Leagues for this summer. League play is scheduled to start June 4 and conclude July 24, with the playoffs set for July 31. Registration costs $200 per team and the application deadline is April 10. • The Milwaukee Bavarians announced the signings of 14 players last week, taking their Premier League of America roster to 21 players. Included in the group were six former Marquette players, four UW-Milwaukee alums, former Drake All-American defender Nick Marshall and Logan Andryk (Milwaukee Marquette/MSOE), the 2015 National Soccer Coaches Association of American NCAA Division III Player of the Year and a four-time All-American. • The Croatian Eagles announced the addition to three more players to their PLA roster, forward Connor Brehm (Racine St. Catherine's) and midfielders Andrew Wiedabach (Mequon Homestead/UW-Milwaukee) and Diego Campos (Milwaukee Hamilton/Concordia). Brehm spent time with professional clubs Carrick Rangers and PSNI FC in Northern Ireland, and has spent the past two seasons with the Milwaukee Wave of the Major Arena Soccer League. Wiedabach also has been with the Wave the past two seasons and played for Croatians before and after a stint with the Minnesota United Reserves in the National Premier Soccer League in 2014. • Two players who previously were announced as joining the Croatians in 2016, defender Alex Tozer (Whitefish Bay Dominican) and midfielder Diego Bobadilla, instead will play for the Cedar Rapids Rampage in the PLA. Both played for the club's MASL expansion team this winter. The Rampage, who were added to the PLA earlier this month as the sixth team in the West Division and the league's 12th team overall, will be coached by former Wave forward Hewerton Moreira.
