One of Milwaukee's most accomplished soccer coaches will work with the city's newest team.

Mark Litton (Racine St. Catherine's/UW-Parkside) will serve as goalkeeper coach for the Milwaukee Torrent during its inaugural 2016 season, the team announced Saturday morning.

"He has decades of experience, (he is) well-known in the area and well-known around the U.S. because of futsal," said Torrent owner and head coach Andreas Davi, whose team kicks off its first season in the National Premier Soccer League in May. "I think he is absolute quality, a top guy for this position."

Litton has been the goalkeeper coach for the UW-Milwaukee men's program for the past six seasons, the first two as a volunteer assistant, and also coached the keepers at UW-Parkside for eight seasons in two stints at his alma mater.

An NAIA All-American keeper for the Rangers as a senior in 1988, Litton was inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010 and into the Wisconsin Soccer Association Hall of Fame last year. He played with the Milwaukee Wave from 1989 to '94, and was the goalkeeper coach for the indoor team for 10 seasons from 2004 through '14.

Litton, who also has been the U.S. Futsal national team goalkeeper coach since 2008, joins Rick Kilps – whom he played for and coached with at Parkside – on Davi's coaching staff. The Torrent have two goalkeepers on their 19-man roster: Matt Eisold (Burlington/Wisconsin Lutheran) and Nick Barry (UW-Oshkosh).

"He's happy to join the staff, we're happy to have him – it will be great," Davi said of Litton. "It's huge, I'm excited to have him on board."
