A pair of FC Wisconsin Nationals players, Porter Provan (Muskego) and Santi Davila (Wauwatosa), were selected to participate in a U.S. Club Soccer id2 Training Camp for boys born in 2003 next month in Raleigh, N.C., the club announced recently.

The id2 program is an Olympic Development Program as approved by the U.S. Soccer Federation and the U.S. Olympic Committee. The camp in Raleigh is the second of four national id2 camps that will be held this year, with U.S. Soccer national team coaches and staff on hand to scout players.

  • Seven FC Wisconsin players participated in the Elite Clubs National League Player Development Program Midwest North event held Feb. 27 and 28 at the McClain Center in Madison. Defenders Kristina Barczak (Menomonee Falls), Stephanie Franczak, Maria Nordness and Bianca Stubler (Sussex Hamilton); midfielders Taylor Kerwin (Whitefish Bay) and Sophia Toscano and forward Mikaela Hoard (Mequon Homestead) were among the 49 players from seven ECNL Midwest Conference clubs that were split into four teams. Stanford assistant Hideki Nakada, who previously held the same position at Marquette, and Northwestern assistant David Nikolic (Milwaukee/UW-Milwaukee) were among the coaches for the event. The top players from all PDP events across the country will be considered for selection to the ECNL National Training Camp in July in Portland, Ore.
  • Katie Koker (SC Waukesha) was part of the U.S. Youth Soccer Region II ODP girls 2000 team that played in a tournament in Costa Rica with the other three regional sides and four professional clubs from the Central American country. Region II tied for third with a 1-2-1 record, beating UCEM Alajuela 3-0 Wednesday after playing Saprissa and Dimas Esxazu to 2-2 draws and dropping a 2-0 decision to Moravia.
  • Burlington Youth SC announced that it will become Burlington United SC next fall, and the club will partner with Franklin's Croatian Eagles to offer "high-level competitive soccer." Croatians coaching director Scott Suprise will lead the Burlington United coaching staff, while UW-Whitewater men's coach Tony Guinn will be an adviser. The Burlington club, founded in 1991, has approximately 750 players.
  • The U.S. Soccer Federation confirmed last week that it will launch a Girls Development Academy program in fall 2017. The program will follow in the footsteps of the Boys Development Academy, which started in 2007. Teams will be required to train at least four times per week, and Academy players won't be allowed to participate in any other competitions – including high school soccer. The program will include Under-14/15, Under-16/17 and Under-18/19 divisions. More information
