Nov. 17, 1929: As part of a triple-header of matches at Borchert Field, home of Major League Baseball's Milwaukee Braves, a crowd of 2,000 saw Mannheim edge Hamburg 1-0 in the first sanctioned youth soccer match in Wisconsin history. The teams were part of the new Wisconsin State Football Association Junior League, which also included Bremen.
