Sept. 13, 1964: Heinz Hammeriel and Punky Dorn scored three goals apiece as Bavarian SC opened defense of its defending Wisconsin State Soccer League title by cruising past Racine 8-1. In another league opener, Gerhardt Palmer, on leave from duty in the U.S. Army, scored twice as Milwaukee Brewers raced out to a four-goal lead, then needed Egon Strotz's late goal to hold off Milwaukee Sport Club 5-4.
