Two state players, Milwaukee's Nick Chiappa and Madison's Takumi Ikeda, were named to the U.S. Youth Futsal national teams for an upcoming trip to Costa Rica.

Chiappa (Bavarian SC) was one of two goalkeepers picked for the Under-16 boys team, while Ikeda (SC Waukesha/Chicago Fire Academy) is one of 10 outfield players on the Under-14 boys team.

The 10 youth national teams – Under-12, Under-13, Under-14, Under-16 and Under-18 sides for boys and girls – were selected based on players' performances at the National I.D. Camp earlier this month in Kansas.

U.S. Youth Futsal technical director Keith Tozer, the former longtime Milwaukee Wave coach who also is the U.S. Futsal national team coach, will oversee the trip to Costa Rica from July 30 to Aug. 1. Mark Litton (Racine St. Catherine's/UW-Parkside), the U.S. Youth Futsal director of goalkeeping, also will be on the coaching staff.

The Under-18, Under-16 and Under-14 national teams will face Colegio Alajuela, Colegio Ezcazu, Colegio Santa Ana, Colegio Santo Domingo and CTP Lindora while they are in San Jose. The Under-12 and Under-13 sides will play matches in Canada later this year.
