Another state player will be playing in this week's U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships.

Wind Lake's Luka Prpa (Muskego) was invited to play with the Chicago Magic PSG Under-17 team at nationals, which start Tuesday in Tulsa, Okla.

Prpa, who had a trial with Premier League club Swansea City in March, was part of the U.S. Under-17 Residency Program and finished the spring season playing for the Magic PSG Under-17/18 team in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy.

Midfielder Nathan Feiner and defender Zach Landt, teammates on the New Richmond High School team, are part of the Under-16 side from Minnesota club Sporting St. Croix SC that also will play at the tournament.

Other players with state ties who could feature at the event are University of Wisconsin forward Mark Segbers (St. Louis Scott Gallagher Under-19 boys); incoming Marquette freshman striker Jamie Kutey (KC Metro Dynamos Under-18 girls); and forward Rachel Johnson, who has verbally committed to Marquette for 2017 (Nebraska's Gretna Prima Green Under-19 girls).

Standings, results and schedules

  • The Chicago Fire, with UW men's assistant coach Stan Anderson (UW-Parkside) on their coaching staff, won the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Under-17/18 national title with a 3-1 victory over Real Salt Lake-Arizona on Saturday night in Carson, Calif. Incoming Marquette freshman Luis Barraza was in goal for Real Salt Lake-Arizona (35-4-4), two days after posting a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes in the semifinals. The Fire (16-4-9) outlasted the Montreal Impact 4-2 after extra time in their semifinal Thursday night.
