July 6, 1997: Brian Bliss, Jorge Salcedo, Thomas Dooley and Todd Yeagley scored as Major League Soccer's Columbus Crew doubled up the Milwaukee Rampage 4-2 in a friendly watched by a then-record crowd of 5,123 at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee. Bliss opened the scoring with a highlight-reel goal in the 29th minute, but the USISL A-League side equalized through Casey Sweeney in the 47th. Goals by Salcedo and Dooley – the latter set up by former Rampage forward Brian McBride – gave the Crew a two-goal advantage before Travis Roy (UW) scored off a pass from Mike Gentile (UW) in the 70th to pull the home team back within one. Todd Yeagley, who would later be named the University of Wisconsin coach, sealed Columbus' victory in the 79th.
