Seven Wisconsin teams will take the field Tuesday at Scheels USA Youth Complex in Appleton in the semifinals of the U.S. Youth Soccer Region II Championships.

Four girls sides and three boys teams make up the state contingent among the 56 teams still alive in 14 age groups. Only Ohio (12) and Illinois (10) saw more teams earn semifinal berths than Wisconsin, while Michigan also has seven qualifiers.

State girls teams compiled a 10-6-4 record in group play, which kicked off Saturday in Appleton and at Southwest Park in De Pere. A weather delay on Monday led to several cancellations, meaning not all teams played their scheduled three games.

The North Shore United Under-14s and Strike FC Wisconsin Premier Under-18s each won both of their pool matches to advance to the semifinals, while the SC Waukesha Blue Under-15 team and the combined SC Waukesha-Strike FC United Under-19 side each finished 2-0-1 to win their groups and move on to Tuesday.

Wisconsin boys teams were 13-5-2 in group play, meaning the 15 state sides are 23-11-6 overall so far at regionals. The SC Waukesha Under-13s and the Bavarians Under-18s went 3-0-0 and the FC Wisconsin Nationals Under-16s won their group at 2-0-1 – the Nationals posted shutouts in all of their matches, as did the SC Waukesha Blue Under-15 girls.

Tuesday's semifinals will be played at Scheels USA, with winners advancing to Wednesday's regional finals. Ten championship games, the Under-15 through Under-19 boys and girls finals, will be streamed live via U.S. Youth Soccer's YouTube channel.

Region II champions advance to the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships from July 21 to 26 in Tulsa, Okla.
