Ten teams celebrated state titles Sunday as the Wisconsin State Championships concluded at three locations in the Milwaukee area.

SC Waukesha led the way with champions in four age groups (Under-13, Under-17 and Under-19 boys and Under-13 girls) and had a total of six state champions this season – their Under-15 and Under-16 girls teams claimed titles last fall. Additionally, some of the club's players were part of the SC Waukesha-Strike FC Wisconsin United side that won the Under-19 girls championship Sunday.

Coach Xavi Rico achieved a rare accomplishment, leading three teams to State Cup titles in the same season. His SC Waukesha Under-13 and Under-17 boys sides prevailed on Sunday, while his Under-15 girls team won a title last fall.

In addition to their state championships, winning teams earned berths in the U.S. Youth Soccer Region II Championships, which are June 20 to 24 at Scheels USA Youth Sports Complex in Appleton and Southwest Park in De Pere. Teams also can qualify for regionals based on performances in the Region II Midwest Regional League.

No other club had more than one team win Sunday, when four matches went beyond regulation and one was decided by kicks from the spot – SC Waukesha topped the Milwaukee Bavarians following a 3-3 draw in the Under-19 boys final.

North Shore United had two state champions on the season (Under-14 and Under-17 girls), while Strike FC Wisconsin had its Under-18 girls side win last fall along with the combined Under-19 girls team Sunday.

ACE North (Under-14 boys), Madison FC Gold (Under-15 boys), FC Wisconsin (Under-16 boys) and the Bavarians (Under-18 boys) also were crowned state champions Sunday. ACE North and the Bavarians won their finals after extra time, as did the North Shore United Under-14 girls.

Sunday's finals were played at Bavarians' Heartland Value Fund Stadium in Glendale; North Shore United's PWSB Soccer Park in Cedarburg and Time Warner Cable Stadium at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee.
