Houston Dash defender Lauren Sesselmann (Green Bay Notre Dame) started at center back as Canada blanked England 1-0 on Friday night in Hamilton, Ontario, in its final tune-up before the FIFA Women's World Cup, which starts next week.
The 31-year-old Sesselmann, who came back from a torn ACL in her left knee to make the Canadian squad, played 66 minutes before being replaced by former University of Wisconsin assistant coach Carmelina Moscato.
Canada kicks off Group A play at the Women's World Cup next Saturday against China in Edmonton, Alberta. The Canadians also will play New Zealand on June 11 and the Netherlands on June 15.
