Lauren Sesselmann (Green Bay Notre Dame) is back with the Canadian women's national team – and potentially just in time as the team heads into its final preparations for this summer's Women's World Cup.

The 31-year-old defender was one of 23 players named to Canada's roster for Thursday's friendly against France. The team arrived in Paris on Monday and will train Tuesday and Wednesday before the match in nearby Bondoufle.

Sesselmann hasn't played a competitive match since tearing the ACL in her left knee in February 2014 while training with the national team before the Cyprus Cup.

She missed the entire 2014 National Women's Soccer League season while rehabilitating, but has been training with the Houston Dash for the past month and trained with the national team two weeks ago.

Canadian coach John Herdman will announce his team's 23-player roster for the Women's World Cup on April 27.

Sesselmann, who was born in Marshfield but has dual citizenship because her father is Canadian, has earned 40 caps since 2011. She helped Canada win the gold medal at the 2011 Pan-American Games in Mexico and the bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics.

The international call-up means that Sesselmann will miss the Dash's NWSL season opener, which is Friday night at home against the Washington Spirit.
