U.S. Under-17 national team midfielder Luka Prpa (Wind Lake/Muskego) has been on trial with Premier League club Swansea City.
The 16-year-old first drew the attention of Swansea City Academy coaches during Cedarburg club North Shore United's visit to its partner club in Wales back in 2012.
The Swansea City Supporters' Trust noted Prpa's trial in its minutes from a recent meeting (pdf), and Huw Cooze – the Supporters' Trust director and a member of the club's Board of Directors – tweeted two pictures of Prpa on Saturday, including one of him playing with the Swans in an Under-16 match against Nottingham Forest. (See tweets below)
Prpa has played with Chicago Magic PSG, helping the club's Under-15/16 side finish third in the nation in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy last summer. Prpa, who has verbally committed to Marquette for 2016, joined the U.S. Under-17 Residency Program in Bradenton, Fla., in September; he previously was part of Under-14 and Under-15 national team camps.
He's not the only member of his family with a bright future in the sport: His cousin is Andrija Novakovich (Muskego), who is finishing up his first season in England after signing with Championship club Reading FC last year and is a striker for the U.S. Under-20 national team.
