Wisconsin Fire teams went 6-2-2 against their counterparts from Generation Red and the Michigan Fire at the Fire Spring Friendlies on Saturday in Milwaukee area.

Each of the Wisconsin Fire boys and girls sides played two matches apiece, with the boys teams compiling a 5-1-2 record and the girls teams going 1-1-0. Three other games matched two Wisconsin teams against one another.

The Wisconsin Fire program includes players from 10 state clubs – Appleton SC, Bavarian SC, Brookfield SA, Croatian Eagles, Madison 56ers, Milwaukee Kickers, North Shore United, Racine United, Rush Wisconsin and SC Waukesha – and is part of the Chicago Fire's Emerging Talent Program.

Generation Red teams also are part of the ETP, with players from coming from five of the Fire's affiliate clubs in the Chicago area.

Saturday's matches were played at Bavarian Soccer Park in Glendale, PWSB Field at North Shore United's complex in Cedarburg and Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee.

  • The Bavarians Under-13 boys team spent a week training and playing matches in Madrid, Spain earlier this month. After a loss to Ciudad de Getafe FC, Matthew Roou scored both goals in a 3-2 loss to Cobeja CF and added two more in a victory over Alcala to finish off the trip – Alex Boland also found the back of the net in the win. The Bavarians trained at the Real Madrid Academy and received evaluations from a member of the club's coaching staff and attended a UEFA Champions League match between Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen at the Vicente Calderon Stadium.
  • The North Shore United Under-17 boys team is playing in the Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup XXXVI, one of the country's top tournaments, this week in Texas. The team opened with a 1-0 victory against Texas' Andromeda FC on Monday and faces New Mexico's Rio Rapids SC on Tuesday and Cruzeiro Chicago on Wednesday to close out pool play in Bracket D. The seven group winners and the top runner-up qualify for Thursday's quarterfinals; Sunday's final is at Toyota Stadium, home of Major League Soccer's FC Dallas.
