March 2, 1984: UW-Milwaukee named Bob Gansler the second men's soccer coach in its history. Gansler was the coach at Mequon Homestead High School when he took over the Panthers, and also had coached Bavarian SC to the 1976 National Amateur Cup championship and started the program at Milwaukee Marquette High School. He replaced Dan Harris, who retired following the 1983 season. Harris built the UW-Milwaukee program, compiling a 108-71-15 record over the team's first 11 years. Gansler would lead the Panthers to a 54-39-8 mark in five seasons before departing to take over the U.S. national team in January 1989.
