Club notes: Elm Grove U15 girls set for U.S. Youth Futsal Nationals

The Elm Grove Under-15 girls team is headed to Kansas for next weekend's U.S. Youth Futsal National Championships.

Elm Grove will face Pennsylvania's FC Bolts Maroon at 8 a.m. and Missouri's Futura Pink Panthers Elite at 9 p.m. in Pool A matches on Saturday at New Century Fieldhouse.

The top two finishers in the group advance to Sunday's semifinals, while the third-place team will play a consolation match. The national final is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 17.

Coach Tim Stritesky's Elm Grove team went 2-2-0 at last month's Midwest Regional in Missouri, falling to SportsTutor in pool play and in the final – the Kentucky side is in Pool B at the national tournament.

  • Three state players participated in U.S. Club Soccer id² Training Camps in December in Casa Grande, Ariz. Midfielder Takumi Ikeda (SC Waukesha) was one of 104 players to take part in the 2000/2001 boys session from Dec. 11 to 14, while FC Wisconsin Eclipse midfielder Adriana Andreini (Oshkosh) and defender Bianca Stubler (Sussex Hamilton) played in the 1999/2000 girls session from Dec. 12 to 15.
  • The dates and locations for the Wisconsin State Championships, also known as the State Cup, are set. Group play for the 10 age groups – Under-13 through Under-19 boys and Under-13, Under-14 and Under-19 girls – will be May 23 to 25 at Scheels USA Youth Soccer Complex in Appleton, with the semifinals and finals May 30 and 31 at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee. State champions qualify for the U.S. Youth Soccer Region II Championships, which are June 20 to 24 in Appleton and De Pere.
  • The Wisconsin President's Cup, a state, regional and national competition for those teams that don't participate in the U.S. Youth Soccer Championship Series, also will hold its finals May 30 and 31 at Uihlein. Openings are available for boys Under-13 through Under-17 teams and girls Under-13 and Under-14 sides. State winners advance to the Region II tournament from June 11 to 14 in St. Charles, Mo.
