Reading FC striker Andrija Novakovich (Muskego) was named to the United States' provisional 35-man roster for the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship, which starts Jan. 9 in Jamaica.

U.S. coach Tab Ramos will announce the final 20-player roster for the tournament on Friday. Twenty-one players from the provisional roster are participating in a training camp that started Sunday in Sunrise, Fla. – the 18-year-old Novakovich is not part of that group, but is in contention for the final roster.

The American team will leave for Jamiaca next Monday and will play in Group A at the regional championship, taking on Panama on Jan. 11, Aruba on Jan. 14, the host country on Jan. 18 and Trinidad and Tobago on Jan. 21.

The winners of the two five-team groups will earn berths in the regional final and berths in next year's FIFA Under-20 World Cup, which is May 30 to June 20 in New Zealand. The second- and third-place finishers in each group will play off for two other Under-20 World Cup spots.

Novakovich, who has five goals in a combined 15 appearances for the Reading Under-18 and Under-21 sides this season, has scored three goals for the U.S. Under-20 team in international matches this year.
