The Milwaukee Wave made a major addition to their roster Friday, signing defender Mike Lookingland for the remainder of the Major Arena Soccer League season.

Lookingland was the Major Indoor Soccer League MVP last season for the Baltimore Blast and was the MISL Defender of the Year and a first-team All-MISL selection for three consecutive seasons.

The 31-year-old had 17 goals and 18 assists for the Blast during the 2013-14 regular season and totaled 44 goals and 43 assists in 70 games over the past three seasons. He spent the previous nine years with Baltimore, winning four league titles in that time, but didn't return to the team this season as he reportedly was "pursuing endeavors outside of professional indoor soccer."

The Wave announced the signing on their Facebook page, stating "We are making a run for the championship," and teased fans with the question, "Will he play tomorrow?" – Milwaukee (5-4) plays host to the Detroit Waza Flo (3-7) at 1:05 p.m. Saturday at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.

It wasn't immediately announced by the team or the MASL whether the Wave made a corresponding move to add Lookingland to their roster. One possible transaction could involve James Weber (Hartford), who suffered a torn ACL in his knee during training camp – the 22-year-old forward dealt with the same injury in fall 2013.

At halftime of Saturday's match, the Wave will retire the numbers of brothers Todd and Troy Dusosky – Todd wore No. 17, while Troy was No. 19. They'll become the fifth and sixth Wave players to have their numbers retired, following Peter Knezic (5), Steve Morris (11), Michael King (13) and Victor Nogueira (27).

Forward Todd Dusosky ranks third in franchise history with 250 career goals and second with 305 assists, and defender Troy is fifth with 320 blocks and ninth with 92 assists. The brothers from Anoka, Minn., also are first and second in career penalty minutes in team history, Troy first with 185 and Todd next at 161.
