Four months ago, Vuk Latinovich left Brookfield and moved to Belgrade, Serbia, to join the FK Brodarac youth academy.

The 17-year-old midfielder, who starred for Milwaukee Kickers SC and Brookfield Central High School, has fared well at FK Brodarac – so much so that he was called into a Serbian Under-18 national team camp that starts Tuesday in Stara Pazova.

It's the first national call-up for Latinovich, who was born in the U.S. and also has Serbian citizenship. His father, Rade, played at Marquette and with Milwaukee Serbians SC and is a member of the Wisconsin Soccer Association Hall of Fame.

Latinovich was a "Best of the Rest" selection on the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association all-state team as a sophomore for Brookfield Central in fall 2013, and verbally committed to play at UW-Milwaukee starting in 2016.

"My plans for now are to stay here for at least this year and since everything has been going well so far, I would most likely stay here for senior year," Latinovich wrote in an e-mail Monday. "Going to UWM is still in the picture. They have a lot to offer and have a really good soccer program."
