Milwaukee Marquette continues to rise in the national prep boys soccer rankings.

The Hilltoppers (23-1-2), who won their record 10th WIAA Division 1 state title earlier this month, are a consensus top-10 team in this week's rankings by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and Top Drawer Soccer.

Marquette moved up two spots to No. 5 in the latest NSCAA Top 25 and jumped six places to ninth in the TDS Fab 50. WIAA Division 2 state champion Brookfield East (20-2-4) also received votes in the NSCAA national poll.

Both national rankings will be released again next Tuesday, with the fall's final rankings on Nov. 25.

  • Marquette remained first in the NSCAA Region VI rankings, while the four other state teams in the poll each moved up one spot this week: No. 4 Brookfield East, No. 10 Menomonee Falls (17-4-5), No. 13 Eau Claire Memorial (21-5-0) and No. 14 Beloit Memorial (20-2-7). The Hilltoppers rose two spots to No. 2 in the TDS Great Lakes Region rankings, and Brookfield East remained ninth.
  • Greendale senior forward Matt Bemis, who helped lead the Panthers to one of the best seasons in program history this fall, was named the Wisconsin boys winner of the Wendy's High School Heisman. Greendale finished 18-4-2 overall and took second in the Woodland Conference with a 9-1-1 record. Bemis also is a standout tennis player, having won three conference titles. The High School Heisman Program recognizes student-athletes for athletic success, academic achievement and leadership within their community. Six boys and six girls will be chosen as the national finalists, with one boy and one girl named the national winners Dec. 12.
