Two state players saw their teams' run at the CONCACAF Women's Championship come to an end Monday night in Washington, D.C.

UW-Parkside midfielder Mia Espino played the full 90 minutes for the second straight game as Guatemala closed out the 2015 Women's World Cup qualifying tournament with 2-1 loss to Trinidad and Tobago.

Espino started all three matches for Guatemala in Group A play, including Friday's 5-0 loss to the United States in Bridgeview, Ill. The 20-year-old freshman from Chicago Whitney Young High School logged 225 minutes for La Seleccion Chapina.

In another Group A finale, Drake senior Generve Charles (Wausau East) played the last 6 minutes of Haiti's 6-0 loss to the U.S. The 22-year-old striker also came on for the final 23 minutes in Friday's 1-0 loss to Trinidad and Tobago.

The U.S. won the group with a 3-0-0 record, outscoring opponents 12-0, followed by Trinidad and Tobago (2-1-0), Haiti (1-2-0) and Guatemala (0-3-0).

The semifinals are Friday in Chester, Pa., with the two winners earning berths in next year's Women's World Cup in Canada. The winner of Sunday's third-place match also will qualify, while the fourth-place finisher will face Ecuador – the third-place team in South American qualifying – in a two-leg playoff series for another berth.
