The FC Wisconsin Nationals Under-17/18 team continued its unbeaten start to the U.S. Soccer Development Academy season last weekend, taking four of a possible six points from Michigan clubs Vardar and Crew Soccer Academy Wolves.

Blake Carr (Hartland Arrowhead) finished off a feed from Tunji Akindes (Kenosha Bradford) for his third goal of the young season, then set up Petar Krecak (Muskego) for his first goal as the Nationals took a 2-0 lead against Vardar in their home opener Saturday at the club's complex in Germantown. But two late goals, one of them an own goal, allowed the visitors to salvage a 2-2 draw.

FC Wisconsin allowed a pair of late goals again on Sunday, but held off Wolves 3-2 to improve to 3-0-1 in the Mid-America Division of the Central Conference.

Abdul Kooistra (Madison Memorial) gave the Nationals the early lead, heading in a corner kick by Jordan Palmer (Whitefish Bay) in the opening minute, then scored from 20 yards out in the 33rd to double the advantage. Akindes made it 3-0 in the 53rd when he scored on a left-footed volley from 25 yards out.

The Nationals' Under-15/16 team posted its third win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Vardar on Saturday – scoring all of their goals in a 7-minute span early in the second half to overcome a halftime deficit.

Michael Carreon Jr. (Kimberly) finished off a through ball from Jonathon Hernandez in the 56th to tie the score. Simar Perez (Oak Creek) put FC Wisconsin ahead in the 61st off a free kick and Carreon closed out the scoring with an insurance goal in the 62nd – it was his third goal of the season. A day later, the 10-man Nationals suffered their first loss, falling 3-0 to Wolves.

The FC Wisconsin Under-13/14 side lost both of its matches for the second straight weekend, falling 6-0 to Vardar and 1-0 to Wolves. All three Nationals teams are back in action Saturday, taking on the Indiana Fire Academy in Westfield, Ind.
