Sept. 2, 1981: Dean Duerst (Madison Memorial) scored from 25 yards out in the 69th minute and junior goalkeeper Mark LaPorte (Milwaukee Riverside) outdueled his older brother Chris as the University of Wisconsin beat UW-Milwaukee 1-0 in a non-conference match watched by 2,000 fans at Bavarian Field. It was the Badgers' first win over the Panthers, who had won the first six meetings between the programs. Mark LaPorte finished with eight saves in the clean sheet, while his brother stopped nine shots in his first career start.
