Andrija Novakovich (Muskego) played the final 17 minutes as the U.S. Under-20 national team and Australia played out a 0-0 draw in the finale of the National Training Center Invitational on Friday night in Carson, Calif.

The teams also finished tied atop the standings for the four-team tournament with 2-0-1 records – the Americans claimed the title on goal differential (plus-5 to plus-4) after both teams beat Chile and Bermuda.

The 18-year-old Novakovich, who will head back to England to resume his first preseason at Reading FC, had two goals in his three appearances (one start) at the event.

  • UW's Kinley McNicoll played the full 90 minutes on the backline as the Canadian Under-20 women's national team tied Mexico 0-0 on Friday in the first of two friendlies between the teams in Mexico City. Defender Victoria Pickett, who is expected to join the Badgers as a freshman this fall, came on for Canada in the 62nd minute. Both sides are preparing for the FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup, which is Aug. 5 to 24 in Canada.
