After making a trip to the Pacific Northwest this week, Luka Prpa (Muskego) and his Chicago Magic PSG teammates will be off to Southern California next week.

The Illinois side scored twice in the opening 25 minutes and held off the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 in a U.S. Soccer Development Academy Under-15/16 quarterfinal on Tuesday in Bellingham, Wash., to earn a spot in the final four.

Magic PSG (20-9-2) will face the host Los Angeles Galaxy (22-3-6) at 6 p.m. Central July 17 at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. Defending champion Real Salt Lake takes on California's Strikers FC in the other semifinal – the winners will meet in the final July 19, with the match streamed live on the U.S. Soccer website.

Prpa, who has verbally committed to Marquette for 2016, is second on the team with 13 goals in 31 matches (25 starts). He scored three goals as Magic PSG went 2-0-1 in the playoffs last month in Westfield, Ind., including a pair of penalty kicks in a 2-1 victory over Florida's Kendall SC to win the group and advance to the quarterfinals.

Defender Elon Koenig, who has verbally committed to the University of Wisconsin for 2015, and the Galaxy outlasted Michigan's Vardar 5-3 in a back-and-forth quarterfinal Tuesday night at the StubHub Center.

  • The FC Wisconsin Nationals are scheduled to open their 2014-15 Development Academy season on Sept. 6 at the Chicago Fire, with their home openers set for Sept. 20 against Vardar. Twenty-four matches are currently listed on their schedule, nine in the fall and 15 in the spring, with games against Ohio's Crew Soccer Academy on June 7 closing the season. Schedules are subject to change. Under-17/18 • Under-15/16 • Under-13/14
  • The Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association announced the winners of its annual Mike Kabanica Scholarships. Each year, the organization awards $500 scholarships to six high school seniors (three boys and three girls). WYSA received a record 144 applications for this year's scholarships, which are granted in honor of the late WYSA president. The 2014 winners are: Girls – Natalie Clark, Ozaukee HS/Port Washington SC (UW-Eau Claire); Petra Rack, Germantown HS/Bavarian SC; Danielle Brenner, New Holstein HS/Appleton SC (Edgewood College). Boys – Gavin Meader, Somerset HS/Somerset SC (Gustavus Adolphus, Minn.); Austin Lyons, Eau Claire Memorial HS/Eau Claire United SC (Kentucky); Colin Koerber, Hartland Arrowhead HS/SC Waukesha (Marquette).
