The only thing that has slowed down Columbus Crew midfielder Ethan Finlay (Marshfield) lately was an acute case of appendicitis, which forced him to miss the team's fifth-round Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match against the Chicago Fire on June 25.

But 10 days after undergoing an appendectomy, Finlay was flying again Friday night.

The third-year pro scored his fourth career goal – all of them coming in the past six Major League Soccer matches – in the 76th minute as the Crew shared the points with the Colorado Rapids with a 1-1 draw on the Fourth of July in Commerce City, Colo. (Watch the goal below)

The 23-year-old Finlay took advantage of a mistake by Rapids rookie Jared Watts to score his latest goal. After Crew forward Jairo Arrieta latched on to an errant backpass by Colorado's Dillon Powers, Watts was in position to clear Arrieta's attempted pass to Finlay, but instead touched it right into his path to set up the right-footed finish.

Hagen brought down a pass from Erika Tymrak – her teammate for a few months last fall at German club Bayern Munich – and slotted home a left-footed shot from just inside the box for her first NWSL goal to give the visitors a 3-0 lead in the 20th minute. Then in the 42nd, Hagen followed up Lauren Holiday's shot that hit the post and headed it in to make it 4-0 as second-place FC Kansas City (10-4-3) cruised to its seventh straight win. • Maegan Kelly (Marquette) scored her seventh goal in 10 games in all competitions, finishing off the scoring as Stjarnan thumped host Afturelding 4-0 in an Úrvalsdeild match Monday in Iceland. • Michele Dalton (UW) recorded her sixth shutout of the year Saturday as host Kvarnsvedens IK blanked Älta IF 3-0 in an Elittetan match in Sweden.
