The only thing that has slowed down Columbus Crew midfielder Ethan Finlay (Marshfield) lately was an acute case of appendicitis, which forced him to miss the team's fifth-round Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match against the Chicago Fire on June 25.
But 10 days after undergoing an appendectomy, Finlay was flying again Friday night.
The third-year pro scored his fourth career goal – all of them coming in the past six Major League Soccer matches – in the 76th minute as the Crew shared the points with the Colorado Rapids with a 1-1 draw on the Fourth of July in Commerce City, Colo. (Watch the goal below)

The 23-year-old Finlay took advantage of a mistake by Rapids rookie Jared Watts to score his latest goal. After Crew forward Jairo Arrieta latched on to an errant backpass by Colorado's Dillon Powers, Watts was in position to clear Arrieta's attempted pass to Finlay, but instead touched it right into his path to set up the right-footed finish.
