University of Wisconsin midfielder Rose Lavelle and the U.S. Under-20 women's national team will start their final training camp before next month's FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup one week from today in Seattle, Wash.
After the 15-day camp, U.S. coach Michelle French will name a 21-player roster for the Under-20 Women's World Cup. The seventh edition of the tournament runs from Aug. 5 to 24 in four Canadian cities: Edmonton, Moncton, Montreal and Toronto.
Lavelle, the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Year last fall, been a regular with the Under-20 team and appears to be a lock to make the final roster. She earned the Golden Ball as the tournament's most valuable player as the U.S. dominated the CONCACAF Under-20 Championships in January in the Cayman Islands.
The Americans will play Germany, Brazil and China in Group B of the Under-20 Women's World Cup, which features 16 team split into four groups.
