June 25, 2004: Greg Howes' shot from 22 yards out deflected off a defender and into the net in the 96th minute, giving Milwaukee Wave United a 1-0 overtime victory over the Minnesota Thunder in a USL A-League match watched by 1,370 at Uihlein Soccer Park. Defender Ibrahim Kante started the decisive counter attack, which saw Johnny Torres set up Howes for the winner as Wave United (3-7-1) won its second straight match. The home side created chances throughout, but Thunder goalkeeper Joe Warren made nine saves and Howes hit the right post in the 76th minute. "Soccer's a game of inches," Howes told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "Tonight, the inch was on our side."
