Sarah Hagen (Appleton North/UW-Milwaukee) closed out her 2½-year stint at Bayern Munich on Sunday, but not before delivering one more goal for the German club.
Hagen, still playing with a large wrap after having surgery to repair a broken right hand in April, scored the opener in the 60th minute as Bayern Munich wrapped up its Frauen-Bundesliga season with a 1-1 draw against host Turbine Potsdam.
The 24-year-old striker carefully watched and accurately judged the ball as it took a big bounce after a throw-in on the left side, spinning around her marker to get to the ball and then scoring with a right-footed shot as she fell to the ground.
She finished the season with 12 goals in 20 matches, tied for sixth in the league. Bayern Munich (11-5-6) claimed fourth place in the 12-team league with 39 points – 10 behind third-place Turbine Potsdam and eight ahead of fifth-place FF USV Jena.
Hagen finished with 43 goals in 60 appearances with Bayern Munich, with whom she signed in January 2012. She is in training camp with the U.S. women's national team ahead of friendlies against France on Saturday in Tampa, Fla., and June 19 in East Hartford, Conn., then will join FC Kansas City of the National Women's Soccer League.
Wow, it hasn't hit me yet, but I'm going to miss playing for Bayern...my teammates, coaches, and fans made this an unbelievable 2.5 years!
