June 11, 1983: Dave Hodgson headed in a cross from Bob Spielmann in the 14th minute, and Tim Alioto and Kris Klassen added goals in the final 10 minutes as Bavarian SC blanked the host Cleveland Rebels 3-0 in the U.S. Amateur Cup Midwest Region final. Alioto provided an insurance goal in the 82nd, finishing after a 40-yard run, and Klassen sealed the victory in the 87th as the Bavarians advanced to the national semifinals in July in Houston.
