Upon further review, the U.S. Adult Soccer Association Region II Amateur Cup will include 10 teams – and because of that, regional officials re-drew the tournament.

For the first time, Region II offered clubs a chance to enter a regional Under-20 tournament. After only one team registered, though, regional officials offered the club a spot in the Amateur Cup and it was accepted, forcing a re-draw.

The competition from June 13 to 15 at Grand Park in Westfield, Ind., now will have two groups of three and one group of four, with all 10 teams playing three pool matches – teams in the two smaller groups will each have one crossover game.

The Croatian Eagles, who won the Wisconsin Amateur Cup last month, were drawn into the four-team Group C. They'll face Illinois power and fellow Croatian club RWB Adria at 6 p.m. June 13, then close out pool play June 14 against Minnesota's Cardinals at 9 a.m. and Kentucky's LSA Premier at 2:30 p.m.

Adria outlasted the Croatian Eagles 3-1 after extra time in the Region II Amateur Cup semifinals last June, then went on to win the U.S. Amateur Cup.  The Chicago club advanced to the third round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup this season before falling to USL PRO's Pittsburgh Riverhounds 3-2 after extra time, and won the USASA National Amateur Championship last month in Gambrills, Md.

The three group winners and the second-place finisher with the most points will qualify for the semifinals, which will be played at 7 a.m. June 15. The regional final is scheduled for 11 a.m., and the champion advances to the USASA National Cup Finals from July 25 to 27 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

  • The WSL Women's Premier League, the state's top women's league, kicks off its 2014 season with two matches Saturday. The league features 15 teams divided into North, South and West divisions – one more division than last year – and teams also will play crossover matches against teams from other divisions. There are four new teams: North Shore United Under-23, Croatian Eagles Under-23, Rush Wisconsin and the Waunakee Storm. The four-team playoffs, which are scheduled for July 26, will include the three division winners and the top second-place finisher. WPL schedules: North • South • West
