The U.S. Futsal national team will spend much of the next two weeks in Milwaukee, and there are several opportunities to watch the team train or play.
The American team is training at the Kern Center on the Milwaukee School of Engineering campus this weekend, with sessions from 10 a.m. to noon and intrasquad scrimmages at 7 p.m. today, Sunday and Monday.
The U.S. side, which includes midfielder Philip Suprise (Milwaukee Pius) and is led by former Milwaukee Wave coach Keith Tozer and assistant Mark Litton (Racine St. Catherine's/UW-Parkside), then will travel to Newcastle, England, for the Four Nations Tournament.
The Americans, ranked 34th in the world, will face Qatar on Thursday, Cyprus on Friday and England on June 8 as they seek to defend their tournament title. They'll be back in Milwaukee on June 10 to prepare for a pair of friendlies against France.
Training sessions are set for 10 a.m. to noon June 10, 11 and 13 and from 10 to 11 a.m. June 12 at the Kern Center, with a meet-and-greet session with the team from 5:30 to 7 p.m. June 10 at the Milwaukee Athletic Club. The matches against France, ranked 39th, are June 12 and 14 at the Kern Center. Kickoff for both games is 7 p.m. and admission is free.
Also on June 14, Tozer, Litton and several U.S. Futsal team players will appear at the World Futsal Fest, which runs from 1 to 7 p.m. on Juneau Ave., leading up to the game that night.
