The FC Wisconsin Nationals' Under-17/18 team posted a memorable victory Tuesday night, blanking the Chicago Fire 1-0 in a U.S. Soccer Development Academy match at their complex in Germantown.

Nick Moon (Waukesha West) scored his sixth goal of the season off an assist from fellow UW-Milwaukee recruit Jaime Colin (Kenosha Tremper) in the 6th minute, and Bernie Macias (Milwaukee Tenor) made the slim lead stand up the rest of the way for his fourth clean sheet of the season.

The Fire (18-3-5) are leading the Mid-America Division of the Central Conference and have clinched a berth in the Development Academy playoffs. But FC Wisconsin (7-14-4), which stands 11th in the 13-team division, handed them their second straight loss on the heels of a 16-game unbeaten streak (13-0-3).

It was just the third win for a Nationals side over a Fire team in the seven-year history of the Development Academy – including both FC Wisconsin and its predecessor, FC Milwaukee. Nationals teams are 3-21-4 all-time against their Fire counterparts in all age groups; the other wins also were by the Under-17/18 team, 2-1 on May 29, 2008, and 4-3 on June 6, 2010.

All three FC Wisconsin Nationals sides play their final home games of the season this weekend, facing Internationals on Saturday and fellow Ohio club Crew Soccer Academy on Sunday. Matches start at 11 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday.

Those games will conclude the season for the Under-17/18 team, while the Under-15/16 and Under-13/14 sides will play at the Fire on June 7 in Bridgeview, Ill.

The FC Wisconsin Under-15/16 team (10-9-5) is still in the chase for a wild card playoff berth – they're averaging 1.46 points per game; the last of the 13 playoff spots currently is held by Sockers FC at 1.54 ppg. Meanwhile, the Under-13/14 team (5-11-4) will close out its inaugural season with three matches from June 13 to 16 in Westfield, Ind.
