Oak Creek's Margaret Domka (Stevens Point/UW-Stevens Point) is headed to Canada this summer for the FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup.
Domka was one of 18 referees selected by FIFA to work at the tournament, which is Aug. 5 to 24. She also was a referee at the 2012 Under-20 Women's World Cup in Japan, overseeing two group matches, the quarterfinal between Germany and Norway and the third-place game between Japan and Nigeria.
The 34-year-old Domka, who is a Spanish teacher at Union Grove High School, also officiates National Women's Soccer League matches in addition to international games. In 2009, she became just the 10th woman certified as a FIFA referee – and is only the third American woman to achieve the status.
Fellow Americans Marlene Duffy and Veronica Perez will join Domka in Canada for the Under-20 Women's World Cup, as they were among the 26 assistant referees chosen for the tournament.
