Tosaint Ricketts (UW-Green Bay) is in search of a new club.

The striker reached an agreement to part ways with Bucaspor after the Turkish second-division club failed to pay him, Ricketts confirmed Tuesday via Twitter direct messages.

Ricketts signed a one-year contract with Bucaspor in September that included a club option for the 2014-15 season.

The 26-year-old Canadian international scored seven goals in 25 appearances in TFF 1. Lig play and nine in 29 games overall, including the 79th-minute game-winner in a 2-1 victory over Orduspor on April 20 that ended Bucaspor's six-game losing streak.

However, he recently notified the club that he was terminating his contract due to non-payment. Bucaspor officials asked to negotiate a deal with him rather than have the case decided by FIFA, he wrote, and the sides were able to come to a settlement.

"I'm happy with my current situation," Ricketts wrote. "After a decent season, I am now free to get transferred without a fee. So it worked  out ideally."

Ricketts endured a nightmare non-payment situation in 2012, when Romanian club Politehnica Timişoara failed to pay him. The club, which ended up folding that summer, refused to relinquish his International Transfer Certificate and prevented him from signing with another club for months.

Asked if he plans to stay in Europe, Ricketts – who also has played in Finland and Norway during his six-year professional career – wrote: "There's options, so I will be looking to what fits best."

  • Andrew Stadler (Wauwatosa West) scored for the second straight match, giving Landskrona BoIS the lead 61 seconds into the game, but host Varbergs BoIS FC scored in the 6th minute of second-half stoppage time to pull out a 1-1 draw in a Superettan match Saturday in Sweden. Stadler is tied for third in goals in the second-division league for Landskrona (0-2-2). Watch his early goal from Saturday. On Twitter: @AndrewStadler
  • J.C. Banks (Milwaukee Riverside/UW-Green Bay) also found the net for the second straight game, scoring the lone goal in the 19th minute Sunday as the Rochester Rhinos blanked the Charleston Battery 1-0 to win their home opener. Tyler Rosenlund held the ball up at the top of the box with his back to goal and played the ball to the onrushing Banks, who took two touches and fired past Battery goalkeeper Eric Shannon for his third goal in four matches this season. "Rosey was able to get into a pocket of space and receive the ball at his feet," said Banks, who was named to the USL PRO Team of the Week. "He flicked the ball on to me, and I was able to control it and put it in the bottom corner of the net. I'm not sure if the goalkeeper was able to see it, or if he was screened, but I felt like I struck it well." Tony Walls (Wauwatosa East/UW-Green Bay) earned his second straight start on the backline and played all 90 minutes as the Rhinos (2-1-1) posted their second consecutive clean sheet. • Defender Katie Kelly (Marquette) was named Player of the Match as host Kokkola F10 tied ÅU 3-3 in a Naisten Liiga game Sunday in Finland. Kokkola (2-2-1) is sixth in the 10-team top division and is unbeaten in its past three matches. On Twitter: @KKelly21
  • Sarah Hagen (Appleton North/UW-Milwaukee) made a surprising return to the Bayern Munich lineup Sunday, but the striker couldn't prevent the side's 3-2 loss to host Bayer Leverkusen in Frauen-Bundesliga play. Hagen had surgery to repair a broken hand last week and was expected to miss a few weeks, but played the full 90 minutes in the loss. Bayern (9-4-4) remains fourth in the 12-team league, while Hagen is now tied for seventh in the Frauen-Bundesliga with nine goals in 15 appearances. On Twitter: @sarahapplehagen
  • Charles Kazlauskas (Milwaukee Thomas More) and Helmond Sport closed out their season in Holland's Jupiler League with a 2-1 loss to FC Den Bosch. Kazlauskas went the full 90 and ended up playing all but 13 minutes – 3,527 of 3,540 – in all competitions for Helmond Sport (13-13-12), which finished 13th in the 20-team second division. The versatile 31-year-old had two goals and two assists on the season.
