Waukesha Catholic Memorial was ranked ninth in the first National Soccer Coaches Association of America girls soccer Top 25 of the spring.
The Crusaders responded by scoring nine goals in their season opener, a 9-0 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran on Tuesday at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee.
Catholic Memorial, which won the past two WIAA Division 2 state titles, extended its unbeaten streak to 31 games (30-0-1).
The Crusaders, who haven't lost since a 2-1 setback to Waukesha West on May 24, 2012, were ranked second in the NSCAA Region III poll and Milwaukee DSHA checked in at No. 8.
