Maegan Kelly

Maegan Kelly (Marquette) is following in her sister's footsteps once again.

The forward signed her first professional contract earlier this week, joining FC Kansas City of the National Women's Soccer League.

Kelly's older sister, Katie, played for the club last summer in the inaugural NWSL season. The defender was waived during the offseason and now is in preseason camp with the expansion Houston Dash as a trialist.

Maegan Kelly also followed her sister as a standout at St. Teresa's Academy High School in Kansas City and at Marquette.

The 22-year-old set the Golden Eagles' career assist record with 37, was a three-time All-Big East Conference first-team pick and was named a third-team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as a senior last fall. Kelly was selected in the fourth round (No. 35 overall) of January's NWSL draft.

  • Tosaint Ricketts (UW-Green Bay) came off the bench in the 66th minute of Bucaspor's 2-1 loss to Ankaraspor on Friday in Turkey's second-tier 1. Lig. It was his first appearance since Feb. 24 – he had missed the previous three matches because of a groin injury.
  • Milwaukee Wave midfielder Marcio Leite was one of six players named to the All-Major Indoor Soccer League first team. Leite ranked second in the league with 22 assists in 20 regular-season matches and tied for sixth with 19 goals. Wave goalkeeper Marcel Feenstra and midfielder-forward Ian Bennett – the MISL's leading goal scorer with 27 – made the second team, while Milwaukee defender Tony Walls (Wauwatosa East/UW-Green Bay) was named to the All-Rookie team.
