The Madison 56ers Red Under-18 boys team had a great weekend at the U.S. Club Soccer National Premier Leagues Showcase in Henderson, Nev.

The 56ers faced three California sides at the tournament, winning twice and drawing their other match to finish second among the 12 teams in the competition.

Colorado's Pride FC Predators were the only side to win all three of their games in Under-18 play, while the 56ers finished 2-0-1 with four goals scored and none against for a plus-4 goal differential.

The Madison team opened with 2-0 wins over Tri Valley SC Arsenal on Friday and Placer United Prestige Red on Saturday. The 56ers and Strikers Whittier tied 0-0 in a finale on Sunday – the Strikers also finished 2-0-1, along with fellow California club Almaden Real, but they had goal differentials of plus-2 and plus-3, respectively.

Two state teams were among the 24 teams in the Under-16 competition at the Showcase: FC Wisconsin Nationals finished 1-2-0, while the 56ers went 0-2-1.

FC Wisconsin Nationals blanked Colorado Storm Royal 3-0 on Sunday to close out on a high note after losing to California's Sacramento United Reds 5-0 and Arizona's SC Del Sol Colavecchia 3-0. The 56ers, meanwhile, drew 1-1 with California's Ajax United Elite in their opener before falling to Arizona's Scottsdale Blackhawks Black and Nevada's LVSA Red by 1-0 scorelines.

All three Wisconsin clubs in the NPL's Midwest Developmental League kick off their spring seasons next weekend: FC Wisconsin Nationals plays host to Illinois' Campton United on Saturday, while the Milwaukee Bavarians will welcome the 56ers to Glendale on Sunday. The clubs will face off in Under-13 through Under-18 matches.
