Sarah Hagen (Appleton North/UW-Milwaukee) had a big night as Bayern Munich knocked off VfL Wolfsburg 3-1 in Frauen-Bundesliga play Wednesday in Germany. (Video highlights below)

It was the first loss in 297 days for Wolfsburg, which won the treble last season, claiming the UEFA Champions League, Frauen-Bundesliga and German Cup.

Hagen scored her eighth goal in 11 league matches, and 11th goal in all competitions, by tapping in a rebound in the 83rd minute to finish off the home team's comeback – Wolfsburg took the lead just 4 minutes in.

She also played a role in Bayern Munich's first two goals.

Hagen appeared to score the equalizer in the 6th minute on a shot that slammed off the crossbar and landed over the goal line, according to video replays, but the referee didn't award the goal. The ball eventually found its way to teammate Leonie Maier, who did tie it up. Then in the 75th, Hagen's deflected shot was bobbled by the Wolfsburg keeper, allowing Vanessa Bürki to finish off the rebound.

Bayern Munich (6-3-3) is in fourth place in the 12-team league, four points behind Wolfsburg (7-1-4). 1. FFC Frankfurt (8-0-3) and 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam (8-1-2) hold the top two spots. Hagen, meanwhile, will join up with the U.S. women's national team on Sunday in Portugal, hoping to earn a spot on the team's roster for the Algarve Cup.

  • After impressing during a two-week trial in Arizona, defender Andrew Stone (Green Bay Preble/UW-Milwaukee) signed with Indy Eleven of the North American Soccer League. “We've been in the market for an up-and-coming, athletic center back, and Andrew came highly regarded to us. After the Arizona trip it was clear that he lived up to the hype," director of soccer operations and coach Juergen Sommer said in a news release. "Off the field, Andrew’s a great personality and possesses great character; on the field he brings us a lot of size and balance in the back." The 6-foot-2 Stone scored five goals in 70 appearances (50 starts) during his college career, which included three seasons at UW-Green Bay. After sitting out the 2012 season due to NCAA transfer rules, he was a first-team All-Horizon League selection as a senior last fall and helped the Panthers earn their first NCAA tournament berth since 2005. Indy Eleven, whose president and general manager is Whitefish Bay's Peter Wilt, plays their inaugural match on April 12. On Twitter: @astonetheory
